第四届琢玉杯英语教案——Teaching plan（Lesson 51, Junior English for China, Book II）

  I. Discussion
  Ask the students something about the weather and the date. Tell them my mother’s birthday is coming, ask them to give me some ideas. And also ask them what they like to do on their birthdays.
Then, divide the class into small groups, and discuss the pre-reading in small groups:
  Q1: How do Chinese celebrate their birthday?
  Q2: What do you think English people celebrate their birthday?

  II. Revision
Ask a student to be Ann, she will invite many friends to come to her party. They can make a dialogue like Lesson 49.

  III. Presentation
  It was Ann’s birthday. She was ready for the birthday party. Let’s go and have a look:
    ①. Play the tape and have the students listen. And find out the answers to the two questions:
Q1: What was ready? And give some examples.
Q2: Where was everyone?
   ②.Everyone was outside. That’s the doorbell. Listen!
   ③. The twins gave Ann a big red box. What was in the box? Can you guess? Discuss in small groups: Suppose you are Ann’s friends, what kind of presents would you like to give Ann? And why?
   ④. Go on listening. Find out what Jim’s present is.
   ⑤.Open the books, turn to page 64. Ask the students to read this part as loudly as they can. Answer these questions:
   Q1: When was everything ready for Ann’s birthday party?
   Q2: What did Ann’s friends say when they saw her?
   Q3: Why didn’t Ann open Li Lei’s present?
   Q4: How did Ann feel when she saw Jim’s present?
   Q5: How old is Ann? How did you know?
   ⑥.Choose several students to read the passage aloud to the class in different roles. Fill in the blanks without books:
Last Saturday, everything was ___ for Ann’s party. The doorbell ___. Ann ___ to the door, and found Li Lei ____. Li Lei gave her a _____. But there was no time to ____ it. The twins ____ at the door. “Happy ________!” they said. Jim ___ Ann ____ CD. Ann liked it ___ ___. She ___ very happy.

   IV. Practice
   ①. Divide the class into small groups. Ask them to read in different roles and act it out in front of the class.
   ②. If today is your birthday, you celebrate your birthday with your friends. Make up a dialogue in small groups like Lesson 51. Then, ask some groups to act it out.

   V. Homework
   Do the exercises on page 145 after class.
